Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn,
Hundreds of bees in the purple clover,
Hundreds of butterflies on the lawn,
But only one mother the wide world over.
~George Cooper~
Mama was stingy with ‘I love you’s
I Remember my total surprise the one time she said it in da kitchen
Taught me love was proved In actions and not In easy empty words
Mama was quick to give the whoppin’
Taught me quite quickly wrong from right - no excuses!
Mama was absent many times
Didn’t know till later she just meant for me to find my way;
Know how to walk when I’m all alone, keep my balance when there is no1 to fall on, keep running the race when no one is cheering on the sidelines!
Mama taught me beauty didn’t stay on painted faces
Something on the inside does a gr8ter magic on the outside
Mama taught me not to expect heroes, ‘superman’ and ‘captain planet’ never stepped out of tv-screens!
Taught me too early that the heroine was right inside of me
Mama was good at forgetting birthdays
Taught me it was a day to appreciate God for the grace to live another moment.
Its God’s present to me. So its not less special if pple 4get their presents
Mama taught me church
That you gotta live the church if you choose to go to church
Aint no time to play church in this lifetime
Mama taught me to use my hands
Taught me to learn to do it on my own so nothing will be left undone cuz I didn’t know how.
Mama was never convinced whatever reason I was sad was reason enough to remain sad
Mama basically taught me to laugh out loud despite!( still learning thou)
Mama taught me people weren’t perfect
By daring not to be perfect
Sometimes making me see her mistakes so I do better when its ma time
Mama taught me ;
life would knock you dead
raise you high,
dust you up,
suck you in ,
wash you out,
drain you up,
fill you in
spit you out
praise you loud
hail you down
spin you in nauseating circles
and manage to make you laugh and cry all at once
And defined learning from the process as ….. growth!
Mama taught me every time she was around
Even when her silence and absence did surround
Mama taught me in hard ways
Sometimes through easy days
Sometimes after a beating
Other times her eyes would show the meaning
Mama’s humour is soul exhilarating
And her cussing is (believe me) mind stimulating!
Cheers to my mama!
My chiefest critique
My fashion advisor
My hair expert
My weight checker
My most disagreeable person
my dad's wife
having the knack of being real complicated yet interestingly sweet all at once
and Definitely the ‘brownest woman I know’ :D to ma Maama!
Love u more everyday..xx
